When Kristian and I conceived the idea for Hopi in February of this year, little did we know just how crazy the first 6 months were going to be. We set out to grow the business organically and for as long as possible, bootstrap the business. Consequently, after an amazing lead generation campaign (which we’ll write about in the next few weeks) we knew we needed to seek external support to capture that demand.
I’m happy to share the good news that Hopi has raised a seed round of funding from Esanjo Ventures, with Omar Kassim joining our board. This is incredible news for Hopi. The investment allows us to scale up the business straight away and ensure we’re delivering premium lenses to consumers across the UAE, at an affordable price. Not only that, you can trust us to ensure you never run out of them again!
Omar & Esanjo have been behind some of the region’s biggest success stories. When he’s not delivering knowledge bombs on Twitter, Omar and his team are committed to delivering hit after hit. After the acquisition of JadoPado in 2017 – they’ve built amazing products & businesses like Farfill & Lunatap, to name but a few. Their e-commerce experience will no doubt prove pivotal as we look to scale Hopi and develop our direct to consumer model in the region.
Well – you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve placed orders on lenses and we’re eagerly awaiting the announcement of our official launch. However, over the next few weeks, we’re going to be regularly updating our blog with a real insight into the business.
We’ll talk you through where the idea came from, how we got an email list of nearly 20,000 people in two weeks, the manufacturing process and various other insights about the business and the team.
